Librarian Looks into Literary Link

"The zombies usually lurk in the landfills," explained Buster, the leader of the Zombie-busters - the names are just a lovely coincidence, if you were wondering.
"We call them the  'PUNS' - Plastic (Unwanted, Unloved, Undesirable and Undead!) That plastic dump was where we trailed Bagit from, before we kidnapped him. You've seen the similarities. Bagit and that toxic waster could have been twins. The big unanswered question is what was Bagit doing at the landfill site? It's the last place most people want to visit."
Bagit had certainly been in the wrong place at the wrong time to wind up recycled, way before his expiry date. Perhaps he had been looking for something that had been dumped or perhaps he had wanted to research more for the story he had started. We still haven't heard much from the recycled Bagit. Perhaps the answers can be found from the few chapters that he did write before his reincarnation.
"We are looking for clues in his so-called murder- mystery. It's very strange that no actual murder took place in the first few chapters. For a book of this genre a murder is kind of important."
Buster certainly makes a strong point, not only as a plastics-pulverizing pistolero but also as a part-time literature-loving librarian. Let's hope that Buster and the Zombie-busters crack the spine of this mysterious episode soon.

Plastic Horror Needs Reclassifying

As the article on the dangers of plastic states, absolutely real and deadly plastic horrors do exist and certain plastics should consequently be reclassified as toxic waste!
Reclassification should mean that these materials are not buried and forgotten about but exposed as the deadly threats that they are so that we can quickly eliminate them.

Busters Bust Busted

In an unprecedented statement, the self-appointed group known as The Zombie-busters have come forward with an official apology to Bagit.  Allegedly a case of mistaken identity led to Bagit, one of our most well-known Castaways, being abducted several months ago. The Zombie-busters claim responsibility for kidnapping, torturing and melting Bagit down, pleading to be forgiven for mistaking him for what they describe as one of the most vicious and threatening Landfill Zombies they have ever encountered. The realization that they had recycled the wrong target only came to light whem they saw what they claim to be their real target, still at large, in our Landfill Zombie video.

Monster Makeover

Can you tell who this character was before the monster makeover? In case anyone needs reminding, trash can get pretty ugly.

British Scrap Refused

China refuses to accept British plastics waste on the grounds that it is too dirty. The tide seems to be turning against industrialized countries that have previously used developing nations as dumping grounds. Improved measures for dealing with waste need to be fostered by the countries in which the waste is produced.

Reducing comsumption is the most obvious solution, but not the most plausible.  Re-using packaging that comes with consumer goods for other purposes is one way to deal with the problem on an individual basis. (Castaway Characters second this motion.) Any plastic waste that is discarded needs to be classified accurately at the refuse collection stage if it is to be treated successfully later on.

All Pink And Fuzzy On St Valentine's Day

There's no need to feel blue or castaway if you don't receive a card this Valentine's Day. In fact you're sending love to everyone on the planet by not sending or receiving a physical card. If you still do want to send a card, why not send an e-card? Feel free to copy and paste the little pink cutie in the picture below if you think your lover won't fall in love with the cutie instead of you...

Castaways On Desert Island Hit List

Bigfoot Bagtag has become a rather proactive character these days. Not only is he tweeting for the Castaway Characters (@bigfootbagtag) but he's also taken it upon himself to create a kind of hit list of records, films and books with titles, authors, artists etc that relate somehow to the general themes of recycling, - a kind of multimedia Desert Island Discs.  The first suggestion he's put forward is this: The Castaways from 1965, singing "Liar, Liar", apparently accompanied by 3 dancing female castaways from "Gilligan's Island". Don't ask me how that came to be but it is a rather splendidly trashy start to the list.
